Description |
William J. Johnson (1925-2021), Glen Cove' s hometown hero, was a Tuskegee Airman in WW II. Aside from his time in the military, Johnson lived in Glen Cove for nearly 90 years, attending Glen Cove High School before his service and settling down in the city afterward. Johnson was a founding member and president of the Fair Housing Development Fund Corporation, the first NAACP sponsored housing corporation building, board member at Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club, secretary and chairman of the Glen Cove Housing Authority and board member and chairman of the Glen Cove Child Day Care Center. |
