Description |
Frederick Bayley Pratt - Frederick devoted much of his life to Pratt Institute starting as Secretary to the Board of Trustees in 1887. After the death of his father, he took on the day to day management of the school's affairs. He served as both President and Chairman of the Board before retiring in about 1937. His first mansion, perched atop the hghest hill in Glen Cove was constructed in 1898 and was designed by architectural firm of Babb, Cook and Willard. It was replaced in 1917 by the present structure designed by Charles A. Platt. |
