Angelo R. Capobianco (1930-2020) Cappy, as most people knew him, was born in Glen Cove's Little Italy, or "the Orchard" in 1930. He graduated high school in 1948 and enlisted in the Army. After 3 years of military service he returned home to Glen Cove. He has 5 children and 6 grandchildren. Cappy became a Glen Cove police officer in 1964, retiring as Dean of Detectives in 1997. In 1971, Mayor Vincent Suozzi appointed Cappy the Official Military Historian of Glen Cove. He served on the Glen Cove Memorial Day Parade Committee for many years. Cappy was devoted to enriching the military history of Glen Cove and preserving the heroic memoirs of its residents. |
