Description |
Luckenbach Estate was located on Crescent Beach Road in Glen Cove. John Lewis Luckenbach who served as head of the Luckenbach Shipping Fleet in New York married Kate Isobel McGregor in 1916 and together they built their 25 room home in Glen Cove in 1927. John Luckenbach was commissioned by the United States Shipping Board in 1918-1920 to oversee the construction of U.S. Government vessels in the Orient and in 1947 he became Executive Vice President of the American Bureau of Shipping. The Luckenbach home was decorated with handsome furnishings, many in the Queen Anne, Hepplewhite, Regency and Louis XV styles. |
