Description |
In 1877, Frederick Schleicher was the proprietor of the Glen Cove Hotel. He then opened his own establishment, which was the starting point for horse-drawn sleigh races to Glen Street Station. Glen Street, a rutted dirt road, was eventually curbed and paved to keep down the dust and improve transit. (Caption courtesy of Joan Harrison) |
