Description |
The widening of Glen Street and the building of the arterial highway in 1959 brought the demise of the last standing saltbox house built before the Revolutionary War. For 60 years, it was the home of Gen. Jame Buchanan Pearsall, a politician and direct descendant of Nathaniel Coles, who brokered the real estate deals that created the Gold Coast. The last owners were the Grangers, the first family of dentistry in Glen Cove. (Caption courtesy of Joan Harrison) |
