Description |
Bucknall Estate "Leahead" Overlooking Long Island Sound in the Red Spring Colony section of Glen Cove, "Leahead" was the estate of wealthy English cork importer Henry H. J. Bucknall. The gate house still stands. Bucknall was born on Nov. 3, 1857 and died on June 24, 1942 at "Leahead" at 84 years old. He was vice president of the Armstrong Cork Company and a partner in Gudewill & Bucknall & Bucknall, Scholtz & Company (cork importers). |
