The collection includes 10 photographs dating from the mid-19th century featuring members of the La Farge family and their country home in Glen Cove. John Frederick LaFarge (1786-1858), a Napoleonic soldier and later successful New York businessman built a house on what is now McLoughlin Street in the Landing section of Glen Cove. His son, John LaFarge (1835-1910) also lived in the house and was a famous painter and designer of stained glass windows. Some of his works were based on Glen Cove scenes. Mary LaFarge, who donated the works was a widow of Henry LaFarge, grandson of the artist.
